Friday's Hamlet Blogs!

Hi, everyone. I hope your day has been nice. Let's look at what we wrote on our blogs about Act I of Hamlet. After you have seen a fair number, leave a comment to this post in which you name two or three blogs that you think have interesting responses--just name the blog and quickly summarize what interests you.

At 2:15, you can play East of the Web!

And have a swell weekend!

  1. Euphony's post "Bloglet 1.5" is good because it has a good explantion of why act 1, scene 5 is important to the play's plot

fifteen miles east's entry "1.4" is good because the whole quote section is funny and the quote interpretation is good

  2. Definitely my favorite blog post was from A Summer's Day. I agreed completely with their love for Hamlet's soliloquy, and thoroughly enjoyed their commentary to King Claudius; the prediction at the end, I think it will be true. My second favorite would have to be Vandalizing Jupiter because of the use of the word "creepazoid."
I disagree with the idea that taking after the ghost was a bad move, because I think it shows that Hamlet trusts his father, but it was interesting to read someone else's perspective.

  3. I enjoy reading Aquaman's blog. He/she tends to go into a deeper explanation of what they are thinking. Also, fifteen miles east discusses the scene but in a more relaxing way, making for an easy and entertaining read.

  4. She Said She Said - I had some of the same questions/concerns as this blog and agreed with a lot of what they said.

$PARKL3T0WN - seems to understand Hamlet about as much as I do. I sympathize.

  5. I like Euphony's response to scene five was interesting. The questions he asks regarding the purgatory are intriguing. I thought similar things. Also, I liked Weaboo's questions about scene five, particularly the question about the ghost speaking to Hamlet. It would possibly be beneficial to the ghost if the the others heard which raises the question if the ghost is just Hamlet's imagination.

  6. I enjoyed She Said She Said's "bloglets" about Hamlet. I liked that the bloglets were short, sweet, and to the point. Also, their list of questions concerning future events of the play were very insighful. I didn't even think about some of those questions until I read their bloglet. Because Hamlet is a Shakespearean play with distinct, highly elevated diction, I find it hard to understand. That is why I like the fact that She Said She Said kept it simple and easy to understand.

  7. Aquaman's grasp of the play interests me. He is able to summarize thoroughly despite Shakespeare's Victorian form of writing. I realized things from reading his summary that I had not noticed from reading the passage myself.

Also, SheSaidSheSaid's analysis of Ophelia's final line and it's significance to the rest of the story is right in line with what I had concluded.

Finally, the questions that Patrick Star poses are those that I had not thought of. For instance, why did the King prevent Hamlet from going to Wittenberg?

  8. She Said She Said asks great questions about ghost, mainly because I am wondering the same things. My favorite question is "Why can Hamlet only hear the ghost?" Could this mean Hamlet is actually mad.
I also like Fifteen Miles East response. It includes a bit of humor when he/she said, to justify Hamlet talking to the ghost, that its okay to talk to strangers especially if there dead and it is in a creepy location.
Finally, I like Quarter Rose's opinion on Hamlet's soliloquy. I also feel that Hamlet hides from the world with his mood in the first few scenes.

  9. The Final Countdown: Great questions. I wondered about some of the same things while reading.

She Said, She Said: Your considerations in your entries made me draw some different conclusions than I had initially and I liked the way you described/explained things.

Watcha no about me?: Your summary was really well done and I agreed with you on multiple things. I also like the way you talk in your posts.

Good job to all of you. (:

  10. She Said She Said's blog gave a really nice reponse to a single line in the play which essentially defines the rest of the novel. After Hamlet's ghost states, "revenge is foul and most unnatural murder," As She Said She Said stated, Hamlet will now seek revenge for a large part of the play.

The blog ~A Summer's Day~ exposed the emotions of Hamlet during his big soliloquy in such an elegant, yet succinct way. I love the way Hamlet is characterized in this blog as the "only mourner amidst an unwarranted celebration" and that he is "alienated from his kingdom."

  11. I like Fifteen miles east blog. The way they word things are intertaining.
Fifteen miles east is good too. "Party it up in his house every night," haha.
Vandalizing Jupiter is the coolest blog name ever. Also, they have some pretty funny views. Its better than my straight forward stuff.

  12. aquaman, you're a genius. you always write with such unquestionable authority that if you said that the sky was purple, i might even look up.
$parkletown, i ROFLed at your first Hamlet post. and i agreed with your second--ophelia's gotta follow her heart on this one(thats kind of the point of love, right?).
ay brown sugar, i'm in complete agreement with your 1.4 #5. what was the deal there?!

  13. I appreciated the accurateness of fettucini Alfredo's commenting of the significance of scene 4. He/she made a good point when comparing Horatio's reason to the ghost's purpose. I thought Euphony did a good job with the question portion of their post. I too was wondering what was the reason for the ghost's departure and if there was anything in particular that made it leave. I know it keep mentioning the morning coming, but is there anything else? It was nice to see we were wondering the same thing.

  14. 1) Whatcha No About Me? - I liked their blog because of the vocab (phantasm)and how they made three different points that they analyzed about the scene.
    2) Vandalizing Jupiter - I liked the way that they tied Hamlet to a scary movie and how he does the wrong thing by following the ghost lolol. I also liked the ending (.. that's so messed up ...)
    3) She Said She Said - I like the fact that they use the present scenes to predict how the future scenes will be affected.
    GREAT JOB EVERYONE. BLOG ON

  15. Aquaman's poses a good question to Hamlet when they ask why acting insane would make his uncle think he doesn't know he killed Hamlet Sr.
Patrick Star's relates to the characters and makes inferences from their actions.
Euphony's also asks an interesting question about what will happen to the ghost after he does avenge him.

  16. I agree with She said She said when you point out how Horatio is such a reasonable and rational character. I also really like some of the questions that Suddenly Everything has Changed brings up. The tension between Hamlet and his Uncle will obviously have such an important role in the play. It just still seems weird that The King is trying so hard to keep Hamlet close to him.

And Brown Suger is my homie.

  17. I appreciate Aquaman's consistency in picking the same three things to blog about in each scene post. Aquaman asks relevant and interesting questions and seems to have a really good understanding of the play thus far. I really enjoy his quotes as well. Great job, Aquaman!

  18. I really liked She Said She Said's concise blog post about Hamlet, Act I Scene ii. We shared many of the same thoughts about Hamlet's father's ghost, like why doesn't the ghost speak to anyone but Hamlet? Is he going crazy? These are a few ideas that I also had. Well, great minds think alike, right? :D
